Sad part at our age...so many passing away. I guess lucky I have almost no one left. Except my 3 missing cats. It isnt the dieing that is scary..its the way we go. And too many people die hard and slow.

Sad part at our age...so many passing away. I guess lucky I have almost no one left. Except my 3 missing cats. It isnt the dieing that is scary..its the way we go. And too many people die hard and slow. Being dead is not scary... The act itself however is a different story. Been on the edge of death twice Once by an accident. That was nearly an instant death. Not so bad Second time from illness. It was so bad people were afraid to come to my house, Even the visiting nurse Because they didn't want to be the one that found my corpse. Nearly a year spent on the on the razors edge of literal starvation. Even the feeding tube sticking out of my belly and hooked to a machine didn't help. I was so miserable I was literally hoping to die. I can tell ya for sure that starvation is NOT the way ya wanna die.

I watch the ads and do surveys that list do you haves. Man, there are more diseases and ailments out there than fish in the sea. I just wonder how many are invented ones by big pharma. When I grew up, we thought aching legs were growing pains. Not a disease. If your hand ached, it was old age arthur and you took aspirin and dealt with it. Now you are supposed to take their wonder drug that MIGHT help while giving you side effects. But, no worry cause they have pills for those. Meanwhile my mule and I just keep on rolling along. I stick to my daily supplements and oatmeal, running ragged with my farm, dont smoke or drink and try to eat healthy. Or at least avoid a ton of pre-packaged garbage that people seem to live on these days. And avoid doctors and tests that make sure they find something to turn you into a cash cow. My saying is I will live til I die and after I am dead, they can tell me what I died from. And not even then cause it doesnt matter. My sympathies to those that really do suffer real issues and have to deal with them. There is a movie I like called Wind Walker. Rather hooky white man playing Indian. But, at the start the lead gets recalled from his death platform. He figures his family needs help and set off. Falls though a cave roof onto a bear and kills it. The line I like is" such a long life is hazardous to ones life." Truer words were never written.

In my case, my doctor did not make up my heart condition and I am quite thankful to have a caring, very good heart team and a wonderful orthopedist as well.

I conflict on medical care. In many ways I see people get years of health through intervention. And in many cases, just a prolonged death. My mom had a bad heart and refused to go to a doctor. She said not going to be tortured to death for a year and hand them all her money. And she woke up dead basically one day. And was right. Autopsy showed her heart was damaged from childhood by Rheumatic fever and repairs were not viable. She also had a benign fibroid tumor in uterus. I know darn well some quack would have been oh..you need a hysterectomy and then go on hormones to give you breast cancer. Of course we can treat that too. She never had one symptom of that tumor and never bothered her nor knew she had it. I knew one of the first heart transplants that lived 15 years or more. He said it was the worst thing he ever did and knew it should have never been done. He said all he got was years of doctoring, health issues and pain. And would die leaving his wife destitute because every dime went to the docs. I will follow my parents and when I die, I die. It is Wakan Tankas decision, not mine.

That's your choice but I am quite thankful to have my defib which has saved my life. And I only see the doctor once a year unless I have a problem so he is not just taking my money.

You lucked out. Others dont. I am fed up with coons. I set the trap and they grab the egg and run. And yesterday I had to replant flower in pots they dug up. So last night tied eggs in nylon netting and wired to back of trap. And there it sits, untouched. Grrrrr. Smart buggers. Watch me catch my hens today.

That's the main reason I have geese.. Cook comes around they let me know so I can take care of the problem. But now the geese wanna follow me everywhere..including the 1/4 mile out to the mailbox I really don't like them that far from the house And I don't know how their little legs keep up on the journey Kinda funny to watch though Some folks walk their dogs I walk my birds

Any time I walk outside I either am followed by a herd of cats or chickens. No way I can go anywhere to be alone. Only way is inside after I toss all the cats out for the evening. MY time! Go away. I dont like it when the cats follow me down to the mailbox. But, have trained them, when car comes..RUN!!! And hide in bushes. Trap sprung, eggs in and let it be last night. Trap was moved so coon had come and tried. Open it tonight and hope. I finished the book by Solzhenitsyn, August 14,1914. Seems the normal war idea. Favs of leaders appointed to lead..Generals etc. Idiots who are school trained, not battle. Sit back where safe and tell soldiers where to go, retreat, advance, get slaughtered. And when said and done, General gets rewarded and praised. My dad fought for the Kaiser. He volunteered for a mission. He was told IF he made it back, he would get the Iron Cross. He made it. And when the medal came down, it went to the Lieutenant. Dad said he learned..never volunteer! I wish I had been smarter when young and asked me more about what he went through. He told me some, but now lots of questions I will never know.

Grandpa Charlie was in ww2 I have newspaper clippings about Charlie brown(yes, his real name)in France and germany.he went in as a private, came out as tech sergeant. Heard many of his stories over the years. Grandpa Bloomfield was a hair younger and didn't see action in the war,but was in Germany shortly after the surrender. I'm rather happy neither saw action in the south pacific,or the stories probably would gave different endings, and I probably would notg be writing this. I have one of a set of 4 pewter goblets stamped made in italy, that grandpa Charlie sent home to his mother from germany. I had all 4 Unfortunately 3 were melted into oblivion in a house fire a few years ago, along with the French and Germany paper money he brought home as souvenirs.. However, some paperwork survived. The fighting 63rd company official thanks and ww2 documentation as well as his medals including 2 purple hearts and a silver star. Rip grandpa Charlie Your country thanks you And your grandchildren love you

i am not sure where it is at, but someone gave mom a MILLION mark bill years ago. Dad said at the time it had been printed, it was equal to a million DOLLARS! Now just paper. Odd that Germany printed that large of a currency. Good old German word, schadenfreude. I am having it..arent I mean? Tenant Steve got it in his head to raise pheasants, as I have said. Now another guy told him what I TOLD him..they will not naturalize in Wis. So the ones he was after for .50 each were sold so he paid 4 EACH at Tractor Supply. 36 of the 50 he bought made it to feathering out. Joe was here and the 3 of us talked and Joe mentioned the corn crib would be a nice place when older. Steve agreed. I said maybe... They feathered out, I turned off heat lamp. And told him he should split them up, half in the one brooder pen and half in the second one across the barn by the geese coop. Finally texted him, the sand is getting wet, they will get sick, need to clean pen. So no..he fixed up the wire corn crib and moved them one night and cleaned the pen. I walked down, but didnt get close due to I didnt want them to explode like they do. Saw he put 3 foot high chicken wire around the base of the crib, a small dog house, etc. I tried to see if he got the cone top back on, but couldnt. Anyway..he texted me. Most escaped. They flew up above and through the crib wire. DUH! He has two dogs he lets run. Bet they charged the crib and barking and panicked them. Or the barn cats lining up around licking their lips. He texted one dog brought him two dead, or the same one twice..well take it away! I found a wing and leg in the barn. He texted expensive idea. Mom raised pheasants when I was young. Dad built super pens and then butchered them like chickens. We had the brooders tame. I thought Steve was nuts. Raise them and release to set dogs after and shoot. Oh yeah..real sporting. Just butcher them. I am refraining from laughing in his face.

It only took a minute to teach the cat and all the dogs that those are my birds, not theirs. Haven't had a problem since. Cat avoids them. Peter walks around with 3 or 4 chickens on his back..just hanging out

I went to check the pheasants. There are dead birds around outside the crib. I dont think cats killed cause not eaten. I think they died cause no food nor water. About 8 left in the crib. So..lets see...200 divided by 8 is...lesson learned by Steve about pheasants? I keep my chicks and hen caged til they get bigger. Cats do view fuzzy chicks as free meals. Once bigger they are OK. It is funny to see a cat and chicken backing each other done. Cat usually runs. Guess they dont like rapier beaks. LOL. No cats are eating eggs anymore. ???Spring they were being egg suckers. So now getting lots of eggs every day. LOTS OF EGGS! Help!!! My old ma cat and the newest two kittens half grown are gone again. I miss them even though they drive me nuts when the two use my house as an Indie 500 race track. The other two moms seem to be nursing. But, no idea where the kittens are. Indi either moved her one or something got it. That is one thing, but not if hidden cause then I cant tame them.

When my birds were chicks,I kept them in a cage in the living room next to the wood burning stove. The cat would hiss at them, but after a single talking too,he never bothered em. Once they were big enough to go outside,he won't go near them. But he climbs up on something high and just watches them. The birds are funny. If something scares them, they all run as fast as they can back to the hen house where they know it's safe

the smart ones anyway. lol. I remember growing up on the farm. And going over to the next farm. They had a wood stove in the kitchen and living room. And one time we stopped, there was a little calf laying behind the stove in the kitchen. Not too long ago, I stopped to get feral hens from a different neighbor and in the dining/kitchen area was a mesh play pen. And a duck! She said they couldnt put it outside with the others because they beat it up. So it was a house pet and lived in the play pen. OK..that is a bit much. Although I should talk cause I ended up with a house chicken. But, she didnt play in a basin of water, drink 3 gallons of water a day and excrete 20!! I always thought the best idea was Europe where the living quarters is above the barn. Animal heat rises to warm the house and all you have to do for chores is go down a ladder. And those barns were kept cleaner than many people houses. My husband used to say why I was cleaning the barn and not our house. Cause if our house is messy, we arent standing ankle deep in poo!!! I am in a fight right now with a hen. She perches on top of a cedar log propped in the corner next to the coop in my barn. Every night I have to chase her off to go in. Of course it maybe cause she must be infertile and the roosters jump her..and each other..dummy! Fine..we can play this game. I rooted and found an old pot lid with the knob gone, screw in center. Took a hammer and pounded it rounder of a dome and set it on top of the log. THERE! Try to sit on this! So last nite I go in. Worked! BUT! She is perched on the fence wire that separates the two sides of the barn. ARGH!!!! SHOO you idiot! I should take her and the goose who never can figure out where the coop is in a pen together!!

I hadn't heard that, Packers. I knew he was sick. I never liked him because of the way he treated his wife and kids but I wouldn't have wished him to be sick. May he RIP.

Maybe if there is an afterlife, Michael can hit him alongside the head for the way he ruined his kids lives. No RIP for him...he never earned it. Heard on scanner, guy stopped by cop for driving issues...suspended license and four priors. And guess what, Nicaraguan ID. Yep..need to leave more migrants in country. The problem I see is too many of the people who come in from third world countries and war zones, bring the lawless attitude along with them. We had a deer hunter, Hmung who shot at some hunters who walked past his stand. And he was trespassing. He said he felt threatened! Excuse didnt work tho. I see he came from a country where land ownership is minimal and can be taken anytime. A Country of tribal and national war where the strong take what they want. And put them in the US without teaching them our laws or reinforcing we will keep them or else..and is it any wonder they commit what would not be considered crimes in their homeland?

Do you check over bills? I thought I do..Joe got a new cell...smartphone. Trying to figure it out cause companies dont do manuals anymore to save money. My house phone doesnt ring, the amp light goes bonkers. NOW what...I know it is failing slowly. Receiver off and down. And again. And again. Cell rings..Joe says my phone is going to answering service.. So I unplug and he tries...answer on old rotory..fine. Phone has to be dead. After, I use my cell and try. You have, not availble, leave message. WT? So got the bill I just got and look. And there is the extra charge AGAIN for 8.85 for voice mail. ARGH!!! Called Frontier, enter enter and disconnect! Mad before..now try me! Get through. Nice gal. I said I never authorized it, called a couple months? ago and said take it OFF! I have an answering machine..dont need it dont want it. She said she was to go back only 3 months but went 4 and took the charge off each month. How did I not notice it on! I told her the gal who changed my account when I went from their dish to wire for internet messed things up super badly. Asked what person tacks things on to get commission like Wells Fargo? Funny thing is, plugged phone back in and it is fine. And better. So maybe for the past while, their voice mail was messing up my phone? And good thing the PHONE alerted me to what was going on. SO...check EVERY bill EVERY month and EVERY time. Other thing that makes me angry..waste management. I signed up for dumpster..50 plus 3 office fee plus fuel charge. Bill was 65. Now it is up to 95! Fuel charge goes up when fuel goes down!!

We had no spring whatsoever. Straight from freezing to baking. And no end in sight. Hopefully we don't go straight from summer to winter

Of course we will. But, maybe not. I have done roofing in November a few times. It depends on temp and rain or snow. I think our time of 4 seasons is gone. We have the hot, rainy season or the cold dry season now. We are at the end of the last mini ice age and are turning tropical in North America. Wonder how much colder the southern hemisphere is getting? Guess it fits our aging bodies. The more we slow down, the more the weather gives us reason to veg inside. Iola car show is next weekend, Thur-Sat. I am dreading the heat...looks to be in 90s by then again. Need to find my little battery fans..put them away...that is a mistake. Take along frozen bottles of water, my big sun hat, hand fans..any other ideas on how to stay cool?
